The Australian Association for Adolescent Health warmly invites you to Adelaide Convention Centre for the 2023 Youth Health Conference.

Our conference theme of Solution Generation: Listen. Invest. Act. invites us to consider the latest research and effective practice in youth health and wellbeing, and how it can be used to identify actions and solutions to improve young people’s health and wellbeing outcomes.

• LISTEN. Young people are the solution generation: Health and wellbeing issues facing young people are well known. Young people are often not included in discussions and decision making about youth health and wellbeing. When they are asked to give their opinions on issues or solutions, they rarely see action flow from their involvement. Young people want to see action and collaboration at all levels to address enduring health and wellbeing issues in their generation.  

• INVEST. Solutions and investment in youth health pays ‘triple dividends’: Young people (12-25 years) continue to be overlooked in the health system, not fitting easily into either the paediatric nor adult health systems. Health economics show that when we invest and get it right for young people there are multiple benefits for them now, for their future lives, and for the next generation to come. This offers a solution to the ongoing adult burden of disease that drains billions from the health budget each year.  

• ACT. Action and solutions are needed now more than ever: Adolescence is a key phase of human development within which health conditions and behaviours that have lifelong health impacts can emerge. Enduring youth health and wellbeing issues require urgent action, through the adaptation of current strategies and the development of new solutions, to build a youth health ecosystem that meets the needs of all young people regardless of location or background.

The 2023 Youth Health Conference is dedicated to youth health and wellbeing in Australia. Convened by the Australian Association for Adolescent Health Ltd, the Youth Health Conference is an annual conference aimed at providing a platform to exchange ideas, make connections and inspire action drawing on the latest research, practices and models of care in Adolescent Health for young people 12 to 25 years. 

 

Our 3-day program is packed with exceptional speakers and panels that will challenge and inform our thinking and practice. On the 8 November, we will have an afternoon of professional development workshops followed by a 2 day conference on 9-10 November. The Youth Forum at the conference will provide a platform for young people aged between 12 and 25 years to meet and connect while also providing feedback to speakers, members and delegates on what young people see as priorities in adolescent health and how we can work together to address those priorities.
